Check Out These "Guns"!

This post is for my niece, Ashley. She was telling us jokes the other day about her "guns". We were laughing about the clip from the movie trailer for Night at the Museum where "The Thinker" statue says, "Boom, boom, fire power!" How do you like these guns, Ash?

Grant's Blessing

We blessed Grant on May 3rd....it was his 1 month birthday. It came up on us really fast so I felt a little unprepared. My mom made the girl's blessing dresses, so she wanted to buy Grant's blessing outfit. We found one at the distribution center (it was the only one they had). It was ok, but not quite what I was looking for. I wanted something that was pretty basic. Because of the busyness that comes with a newborn, I didn't try his outfit on until the day before his blessing. It was pretty bad....it had a mock turtleneck style collar that came up and covered his mouth, and I wasn't too fond of the vest that came with it. Panic started to set in....we needed to get ready for family coming the next day and find an outfit. Every place we could have bought one from was already closed. We try a few other stores that said they had "Christening" outfits, but they didn't have any. We found some in Ogden, but they were like little tuxedos....definitely over the top. We finally found this one at Dillard's. It had a cross on the collar, so I spent about 2 hours trying to unpick it. I probably should have removed the collar since it was so big and would have been a lot quicker, but it all worked out.

Fast forward to his blessing.....I got him fed right before the meeting, put on a bib to keep him from barfing on his outfit....he was doing pretty good. When Brook went to bless him he told me to take of his bib and take off the blanket. Wrong thing to do.....he screamed during the whole blessing. He was soooo mad. Brook tried to speak while Grant was catching his breath for the next scream. There were lots of snickers from the congregation....including us. He loves being wrapped up in a warm blanket.....we should have left it on. Brook brought him back, we wrapped him up, and he was happy as a clam. I don't remember much about his blessing, Brook did well in spite of the noise, but we'll never forget his reaction!

I loved these little shoes my mom got for him

4 Weeks Old

I know he's already 7 weeks old....I'm a little behind. I was feeding him late that night and realized I hadn't taken any pictures of him when he was 4 weeks old. These might actually be taken after midnight....oh, well. Poor guy was already asleep, but he was a trooper and didn't wake up with all of the flashing. He's growing so fast....can't believe how the time has flown by.

Baby Love

Lauren's learning how to be a big sister to a baby. I had to take this picture because the opportunity doesn't come up very often. I have to say she is doing much better than I expected. Tonight when she said the prayer she said, "We thank thee for sending Grant to our family." :)

Here's Grant with his Grandma Mills....she was in Arizona when he was born, so this was her first chance to see him. He is the only grandson on Brook's side of the family.

More pictures to come....things have been a little busy around here lately. :)

4 Weeks Old (part 1)

Grant is 4 weeks old today! I can't believe how quickly the time has flown! Mel came over this morning and held him for a while, and then he slept for quite some time. After we picked up the girls from school, I had to take him back to the clinic to have his PKU redone. When they did it on his 2 weeks check up, the nurse didn't heat up his heel so they had to milk it. He cried and cried and still they didn't get enough blood to fill in those little circles. Thankfully, after some prayer, the nurse today put a small heat pack on his heel and we were out of there quick. He was so good while I had to run some errands, and then we went to mom's house and hung out for the rest of the day.

Grant's 1st (and 2nd) Bath

Grant's umbilical cord and plasti-bell fell off when he was a little over a week old.....yea, time for his first bath. The water was nice and warm....he loved it. The girls cried when they had their 1st bath. He looked like someone relaxing in a hot tub. Thanks Brooke for the washcloth idea. Not only will he be glad that he was covered up for his pictures when he gets older, but as I learned, it keeps me safe from his little fire hose. My mom gave the girls their 1st baths, but she was in Denver this time so I got to do it. I wanted her to bath Lauren because I wasn't sure what to do, but on the 3rd one I figured I could handle it. :)

One happy customer!

Here's Grant during his second bath. I think I got the water too cold because he cried and fussed a lot. Poor guy....he loves to be warm. He sleeps so good at my mom's house because it is so warm by the fire.

I was a little worried that he wouldn't like the bath after the 2nd time, but when I gave him his 3rd bath and made sure the water was nice and warm, he loved it again. I love how he smells after were done and he's lathered in baby lotion. :)
