Take Me Out To The Ballgame

Brook played on a co-ed softball team with Brooke this year. It's been fun to go up to Ogden and see Brooke and her boys every week.....oh yeah, and watch them play softball. :) I spent most of my time trying to keep track of the girls and make sure that Grant was happy. I felt bad because they didn't win any of their games, but they seemed to have fun playing. They played their last game tonight. I wish I would have taken some pictures of the team. These pictures are during their game 2 weeks ago.

Auburn & her buddy Caleb

On Sunday Auburn was telling Brook's mom about her favorite cousin. She said, "Oh yeah, Erin." Auburn told her that now she has 2 favorite cousins; Erin & Caleb. :)

Tyler & Grant hanging out in the shade
Tyler kept putting his hand near Grant's mouth, then Grant would try to suck on it

This one cracks me up.
Grant is checking out Tyler's hand, and Tyler is watching Grant.
Tyler reminds me of one of Rafael's little cherubs.

Lauren's Yearbook Cover

Lauren won the yearbook cover contest for the whole school this year. It was the 3rd year in a row that she had won for her class. Every year she would complain and say that she wanted to win the front cover. I tried to tell her that it was really cool that she won for her class because a lot of kids never even win that. (You know how parents have to prep their kids just in case they never do win.) A week before school got out Lauren was sent to the office because she wouldn't participate in gym. Anyway, that's another story....after the whole ordeal was over we were the only 2 left in the conference room. She told me she had seen the stacks of yearbooks with class lists on top of them. She noticed the border through the paper, thought that it looked like hers, lifted the paper up, and saw that it was her cover. She was so excited. I was too...even after the conference with her teacher & the vice principal. Oh, my dear Lauren. I love her so much. Sometimes I think that she will be the death of me, but I was so proud of her. She has so many talents and can be very loving, sweet, funny, playful, and tender hearted. I wish that some of the people at school could see that side of her. Needless to say it was a day of mixed emotions. :)

Grant's Smiles

Grant has been smiling for quite a while, but it's been hard to catch it....especially with a digital camera that stutters. :) Auburn caught this first grin while I was talking to him last week.

The rest of these are from today. His shirt is so fitting. Brook's mom gave him this outfit. He was able to wear it today because it's been a little cooler than normal.

2 Months Old

Grant turned 2 months old today. I can't believe how fast time flies! My mom came over today to give him a bath. He's really been packing on the pounds. I'm not exactly sure, but I think he weighs at least 13 pounds. He still loves taking a bath and he's loves the mobile hanging in his crib. Every time we wind it up he gets a smile on his face and starts to coo at it. He's also started playing with toys when you hold them up to him. He struggles and strains to control the muscles in his hands and arms so he can reach them. When we had him in the bouncy seat the other day he kept kicking the star that hangs down. One other thing that I found out he likes is to have his hair brushed. When I was brushing it the other day he started to get this calm look on his face and make these funny noises. It's been fun to see him smile, and "talk" more lately. I forgot how fun it is to have a baby. :)

I love his blue eyes! I hope they stay this dark.

Check Out These "Guns"!

This post is for my niece, Ashley. She was telling us jokes the other day about her "guns". We were laughing about the clip from the movie trailer for Night at the Museum where "The Thinker" statue says, "Boom, boom, fire power!" How do you like these guns, Ash?

Grant's Blessing

We blessed Grant on May 3rd....it was his 1 month birthday. It came up on us really fast so I felt a little unprepared. My mom made the girl's blessing dresses, so she wanted to buy Grant's blessing outfit. We found one at the distribution center (it was the only one they had). It was ok, but not quite what I was looking for. I wanted something that was pretty basic. Because of the busyness that comes with a newborn, I didn't try his outfit on until the day before his blessing. It was pretty bad....it had a mock turtleneck style collar that came up and covered his mouth, and I wasn't too fond of the vest that came with it. Panic started to set in....we needed to get ready for family coming the next day and find an outfit. Every place we could have bought one from was already closed. We try a few other stores that said they had "Christening" outfits, but they didn't have any. We found some in Ogden, but they were like little tuxedos....definitely over the top. We finally found this one at Dillard's. It had a cross on the collar, so I spent about 2 hours trying to unpick it. I probably should have removed the collar since it was so big and would have been a lot quicker, but it all worked out.

Fast forward to his blessing.....I got him fed right before the meeting, put on a bib to keep him from barfing on his outfit....he was doing pretty good. When Brook went to bless him he told me to take of his bib and take off the blanket. Wrong thing to do.....he screamed during the whole blessing. He was soooo mad. Brook tried to speak while Grant was catching his breath for the next scream. There were lots of snickers from the congregation....including us. He loves being wrapped up in a warm blanket.....we should have left it on. Brook brought him back, we wrapped him up, and he was happy as a clam. I don't remember much about his blessing, Brook did well in spite of the noise, but we'll never forget his reaction!

I loved these little shoes my mom got for him

4 Weeks Old

I know he's already 7 weeks old....I'm a little behind. I was feeding him late that night and realized I hadn't taken any pictures of him when he was 4 weeks old. These might actually be taken after midnight....oh, well. Poor guy was already asleep, but he was a trooper and didn't wake up with all of the flashing. He's growing so fast....can't believe how the time has flown by.
